Lauri Randla is an Estonian writer and director. Born near Tartu in 1981, in what was then a “closed” Soviet city, Randla later studied film art in Finland. His shorts include The Zone (2012), Sillamaë (2014), and Mausoleum (2016). His sophomore feature, Goodbye Soviet Union (2020) draws on his childhood experiences in the late USSR and won awards at the Los Angeles Independent Film Awards and Tallinn Black Nights.
