A former athlete leads a sports summer camp for troubled teens. Director Dinara Asanova, famed for her use of improvisation, uses this portrait of a summer to investigate the seemingly paradoxical vulnerability of these ‘tough kid’ outsiders. Incisive and touching, the film dares to ask questions about why things are the way they are, and return empathy to the marginalised. Too challenging for the censors, the film was shelved and was eventually released after Asanova’s death.
