Byambasuren Davva is the Mongolian writer and director of Story of the Weeping Camel. A blend of the real and the surreal, the film depicts a family of nomadic shepherds as they assist the births of their camel herd and save the life of a rare white camel after it is rejected by its mother. An ethnographic documentary that authentically depicts Mongolian nomadic culture, not only are the events of the film touching, it is a rare onscreen depiction of a genuine relationship between a community and the natural world.
