Anatoly Vasiliev

Born in 1945 in what was then the Yakut Autonomous SSR, Anatoly Vasiliev trained and worked in regional theatre in the 1960s and ‘70s. He worked in the Soviet period as an actor, appearing in a number of films set in the Far East, including The Ancestors’ Secret (1973) and Urgent… Confidential… Gubchek (1982). In the immediate aftermath of the fall of the USSR, he produced his first film for Sakha television, Summer House (1992). This was followed by Okhonoon (1993) and Our People (1996).
