Blerta Basholli (b. 1983) is a Kosovar Albanian writer, director, and producer. Her earliest films include the documentary Mirror, Mirror… (2006) and the shorts Gjakova 726 (2009) and Lena and Me (2011), produced during her studies at New York University. Her 2021 feature Hive, based on the true story of a Kosovo War widow, broke records when it won all three of the principal World Cinema awards at Sundance: the Grand Jury Prize, the Directing Award, and the Audience Award. It also made Basholli the first Kosovan director to be shortlisted for an Academy Award nomination.
