Damian Kocur is a Polish director, screenwriter, and cinematographer. He graduated from the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School in Katowice and is currently a doctoral student at the prestigious Łódź Film School. His short film Beyond this Day won Best Short Film at the Trieste Film Festival, and was screened at the Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival among others; the film was also one of eleven shorts from around the world that was presented as part of the New Directors/New Films programme at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. Kocur’s feature debut Bread and Salt had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival in the prestigious Orizzonti section, where it received a Special Jury Prize. It showcases his quasi-documentary approach to fiction filmmaking, drawing on real-life experiences and casting non-professional, local actors.
