Ivan Aksenchuk, born in 1918, was a renowned Soviet animator at the state studio Soyuzmultfilm, who worked in the traditional hand-drawn school. He started working under Alexander Ivanov and Evgeny Migunov and from 1953 worked as a director himself. He often worked on fairy tales from different countries, among them the Romanian Nut Twig (1955), the Uzbek Aist (1956), and the Italian Boy From Naples (1958). Many noted his intelligence and his ability to get along with people of any age, especially young people – including novice animators, trainees, trainees.
