Mantas Kvedaravičius (1976-2022) was a Lithuanian documentarian and anthropologist. He directed two observational documentaries, Barzakh (2011), Mariupolis (2016), and the fiction feature Parthenon (2019). His films, which deal with questions of memory and absence, were screened and awarded in Berlinale, Busan, Hong Kong, and the Visions du Réel film festivals. Kvedaravičius was killed by Russian forces on April 2, 2022, while filming a new documentary about Mariupol; that film, Mariupolis 2, was completed by his widow, Hanna Bilobrova and screened at Cannes, where it won a Special Jury Award.
