Šarūnas Bartas is a Lithuanian filmmaker. One of the most prominent Baltic directors of the 21st century, his career began in earnest in the years after Lithuania’s independence from the Soviet Union, with features including Three Days (1991), The Corridor (1995), and The House (1997). His 2015 film Peace to Us in Our Dreams was screened in Directors’ Fortnight at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. After a break from filmmaking following the death of his daughter in 2021, he returned in 2025 with Back to the Family and Laguna, a documentary about his experience with grief.
