Sandro’s previous film, the award-winning What Do We See When We Look at the Sky? was a modern fairytale romance that played out against the balmy backdrop of a World Cup summer; Dry Leaf follows a father searching for his missing daughter among the amateur football pitches of provincial Georgia. After getting the lowdown on the new film, we spoke to Sandro about how he combines filmic and footballing fantasies and what great sport shares in common with great art.
