Great Poetry
Большая поэзия

Two war veterans,Viktor and Lyokha, have the unenviable job of being cash collectors and live in a half finished settlement on the outskirts of Moscow. In their attempts to reorient themselves to civilian life, both are drawn to poetry. For Viktor this means classic verse. Conversely Lyokha finds himself in the uncompromising honesty of hip hop. Aleksandr Lungin’s unflinching picture of marginalisation in modern Russia asks the question, is society built for integration and equality?

A melancolic Russian western
This is one of those rare festival gems that is not spoken about nearly enough. I absolutely loved the film and the way it represents life on the outskirts of Russia's big cities. Felt menacing and homely at the same time. Special shout out to the song by FACE they play in the car, I haven't been able to get it out of my head for approximately a week.

Not a laugh a minute …
Very good, but very pessimistic. Excellent acting performances.

It brought to my mind the line from Keats: ‘The poetry of the Earth is never dead’.
